3 Easy Ways to Give Your Bathroom a Vintage Makeover

Bathrooms are typically viewed as utilitarian rooms, and therefore not many homeowners take the time to enhance its aesthetics. However, since you spend a considerable time in the bathroom every day, it would be a good idea to engage in renovations that would spruce its appearance. One of the classic themes you could consider for your bathroom renovation is a vintage aesthetic. This article highlights some tips and must-have items to give your bathroom a vintage makeover to improve its appearance.

1.Look for vintage accessories

A misconception many people have is that bathroom renovations have to be extensive, to be effective. The reality of the matter is small changes here and there can have a drastic effect on the appearance of your bathroom. When looking to add a vintage touch to your bathroom, you should start off with changing the accessories that you have. These accessories could be in the form of laundry baskets, soap dishes, soap dispensers, trash baskets and more. Since these items do not take up much space in the bathroom, you can be assured their presence will not overwhelm the bathroom. Stick to vintage materials such as bronze, brass and more to give your bathroom that classic aesthetic.

2.Invest in vanities and cabinetry

A staple item in vintage bathrooms was a vanity. This would make it easier for you to get ready in the bathroom, without having to dash to your bedroom to get your hair and facial products. Classic vanities were made from metals such as brass or bronze. Some people may be tempted to use timber, but keep in mind the structural integrity of the timber can be severely compromised due to the constant exposure to wet conditions. Intricate cabinetry beneath the vanity does not simply add beauty to the bathroom, but they are also function by increasing the storage space too.

3. Get new fixtures

Another easy way to improve the appearance of the bathroom would be by switching out your old fixtures for ones that have a vintage appearance. For instance, the addition of a freestanding clawfoot tub could transform your bathroom from looking bland to having a classic charm to it. Other vintage fixtures you could consider are pedestal sinks, brass coloured faucets and vintage covers for your light switches. It should be noted that changing our larger prices would be more expensive. Therefore, if you have a tight budget, you may want to concentrate on the smaller fixtures first before trying to replace large pieces such as the tub.
